I saw this posted on
‘s journal.
T.Paul Ste. Marie passed away this weekend. He was the host of one of Vancouver’s longest running open mics, Thundering Word Heard. I think most poets who’ve visited Vancouver have had at least one interaction with T. Paul. He gave me so many stage opportunities as a visiting poet, I am shocked and dismayed by this news.

If you are in Vancouver, I think it wise to visit the Vancouver Poetry Slam on Monday, as I’m sure they will offer ample opportunity to memorialize him, or at least there will be others who want to get together on this.
Wow. I haven’t seen him since December and I surely forgot to call him last week. I can’t stand that feeling.
I hope they have a shitload of hair grease, wherever you are, T.Paul.

Oh my god.
I just emailed him, to see how he was doing, and stoke the fires of friendship some. Jesus.
Thanks for the news, Mike.
could you elaborate or backchannel me with more information?‘s entry is locked.
Sorry about the lock, my journal is friends-only after November or so.
Everyone,
T. Paul passed away in his home in his home in the last 24 hrs. His good friend Ru found him this morning in his house on his couch. It looked like another anuerism or possibly a stroke. Not much is known at this time.
Arrangements are being made and you will all be informed about any services or gatherings held on his behalf. It is a loss to the community and to all the people who knew him.
Please spread the word to anyone not on this list. I know you will all do so. He knew so many people that it would be impossible for any one individual to contact all of them. Thank you.

I meant to call you on Sat eve to tell you but couldn’t find your #.
It’s a bit of a mess up here. T-Paul affected so many people and so many communities. He is greatly missed.
Why do these things only happen with a fierce mercury in retrograde on the full moon. One can never say.
The last 4 days have been extremely emotional for me.
breakups and death etc..
everything begins again I suppose.
I love you Mike.
I will always find a way to get a hold of you from now on.
ehhh….this is not the thing to wake up to…T Paul gave me my first Vancouver gig, sight unseen. Generous, gregarious, and all heart(with 1 one part Gretian formula)
